Shi is one of China’s foremost photographers and frequently exhibited in international museums and institutions, including The de Young Museum, Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, Royal Ontario Museum, Groninger Museum and the National Art Museum of China. This is Shi’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles and we are honored to represent him internationally. The exhibition is accompanied by a fully-illustrated catalogue with an essay by Britta Erickson, noted scholar and lecturer in the field of contemporary Chinese art. It is the first complete monograph of the artist’s camera obscura works from 2001 – 2011.

ABOUT the gallery
Since opening its doors in 2004, L&M Arts has been one of the leading modern and contemporary art galleries in the world, active in both the primary and secondary markets. Combining the experience and interests of Robert Mnuchin, former Partner at Goldman Sachs and Dominique Levy, former Director of Private Sales at Christie’s New York, L&M Arts offers some of the most important works by a wide-ranging, international group of artists including Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, Henri Matisse, Jasper Johns, Donald Judd, Louise Bourgeois, Lucian Freud, Gerhard Richter, Cy Twombly, Jeff Koons, Liza Lou, David Hammons, and Thomas Houseago. L&M Arts has set the standard for historically-researched and expertly curated exhibitions and scholarly publications devoted to the work of these pioneering artists.

The gallery opened its Los Angeles branch in September 2010, with a critically-acclaimed exhibition of both indoor and outdoor site-specific installations by Paul McCarthy. In addition to being home to museum-quality exhibitions across a variety of media and genres, the gallery offers personalized art advisory services to distinguished private collectors around the world. L&M Arts is proud to represent the estates of Yves Klein and Joseph Cornell in North America.

L&M Arts exhibits regularly at major international art fairs including: Art Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach, FIAC, Biennale des Antiquaires, and TEFAF Maastricht.

Dominique Levy and Robert Mnuchin are consistently listed in the ArtReview Power 100 (Ranked #20 in 2010).
