Public Library for the Arts

, in 2010, Projects (0 Comments)

Our Public Library for the Arts is an ongoing library initiative located at Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, presented by the DSL Collection and RedBox Studio. Our goal is to encourage awareness and access to this invaluable and free resource for books and publications related to contemporary art and culture in China.

The Public Library for the Arts initiative and DSL Collection eBook is an important addition to the Three Shadows Library because it provides the public with access to a large-scale collection.

On April 12, 2010, in the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre Library, RongRong and inri, founders of Three Shadows, and Katherine Don, Director of Red Box Studios, unveiled the latest addition to the Three Shadows Library – the Public Library for the Arts, established in cooperation with the DSL Collection. Photography historian and author Chen Shen was also in attendance to share his thoughts on this new program based on his more than twenty years of publishing experience. Mr. Chen, in his suggestions for the future development of the Three Shadows Library, emphasized that the library should incorporate electronic materials into the collection, in addition to older, printed books.
Following our last conversation with Rong Rong, Professor Shen Chen, and Katherine Don in April 2010, we came up with the idea to ask the community to provide their wishlist of books for our next installation of Public Library for the Arts, installed in July 2010.

We need your help! Please answer the questions below and contribute to our Pubic Library! We will publish selected answers on RedBox Review and affiliated websites. Then we will seek donations and support to acquire these books for use at the Three Shadows Art Library, available for all!
